Saturday September 15th

Opening  – 14:00 – Arndís Þórarinsdóttir from IBBY in Iceland gives the opening speech. The winners of the short story competition receive their acknowledgements and read to the audience. Music by Svavar Knútur.
Panel– 15:30 To Eat or be Eaten? Authors and illustrators Svein Nyhus, Sigrún Eldjárn and Ragnheiður Gestsdóttir give talks and discuss food in childrens books. The panel is in English.

Sunday September 16th

Reading – 11:00 – The Icelandic author Kristín  Arngrímsdóttir reads to children.
Reading – 11:30 – The Icelandic author Þórarinn Eldjárn reads food related poems for children all ages.
Workshop – 12:00 – The German author Jutta Bauer teaches illustrations and storytelling.
Reading – 12:30 – American author Candace Fleming reads to children from her book Clever Jack Takes the Cake.
Workshop – 13:00 – Danish food writer Katrine Klinken teaches children to make Danish open sandwiches.
Reading – 13:30 – Canadian author Polly Horvath reads to children from Everything on a Waffle and Trolls.
Workshop – 14:00 –Katrine Klinken teaches children to make Danish open sandwiches.
Workshop – 14:30 – American author and illustrator Eric Rohmann teaches children to create characters and tell stories with pictures.
Tour of exhibition  – 15:00 – Jutta Bauer gives a tour for children of her exhibition Steht im Wald ein Kleines Haus.  Please note that the exhibition is in the City Library and not the Nordic house.

Monday September 17th

Panel – 13:00 – Dieting, cannibalism and denial in Icelandic children’s and young adult books. Ármann Jakobsson: Decapitated angels and poor knights. Dagný Kristjánsdóttir: To eat a man and then some.  Anna Heiða Pálsdóttir: Gender roles, kisses and olives: the forbidden fruit in Icelandic young adult literature. Q&A and discussions after lectures. The panel is in Icelandic.
Panel – 15:00 – Food in pictures, a boy in a soup and ethical speculations. Fridunn Karsrud: Butterbuck soup and other delicious meals. Unni Solberg and Kirsti-Nina Frønæs: About food and morals in Thorbjørn Egners Chopping Hill Wood. Kristin Hallberg: Eat – or die! Q&A and discussions after lectures. The panel is in Swedish and Norwegian.
