Kent Kielsen is a greenlandic author. He is born in Igaliko but has lived most of his life in Quqortoq, both in the southern part of Greenland. He received a nomination to the West Nordic Councils Children’s literature prize in 2022, for his first book Uumasut ataatsimeersuarnerat which roughly translates as The Animals Great Assambly. It tells the tale of a seal who becomes anxious about all the trash in the ocean. He contacts Havets Moder – The Mother of the Ocean, a very important cultural legend figure in Greenland – who helps him to contact the humans in order to safe the sea. Kent is an avid football player and has trained children and adults all over Greenland. He is educated in finance and his greatest passion is hunting and fishing. When fishing he has collected tremendous amount of trash from the sea and that sparked the idea to his story.

Kent Kielsen er grænlenskur höfundur. Hann fæddist í Igaliko en hefur búið að mestu í Quqortoq en báðir bæirnir eru staðsettir í suðurhluta Grænlands. Hann hlaut tilnefningu til barnabókmenntaverðlauna Vestnorræna ráðsins árið 2022, fyrir fyrstu bók sína sem á íslensku kallast Alþingi dýranna. Hún segir frá sel sem er uggandi yfir öllu ruslinu í hafinu. Hann hefur samband við Móður hafsins – mikilvæga goðsögn í grænlenskri menningu – sem aðstoðar hann við að ná til fólksins til að bjarga hafinu. Kent hefur spilað fótbolta um árabil og þjálfað börn og fullorðna um allt Grænland. Hann er menntaður í fjármálum en hans aðaláhugamál eru veiðar. Á veiðum hefur hann safnað gríðarlegu magni af rusli, en það varð kveikjan að sögunni um selinn og móður hafsins.
